Your Avatar Project

Assignment:  

• Create an avatar online that fits who you are...
• Describe your avatar in writing with detail from head to toe, top to bottom, even the background and any props, costumes, etc... 
• Explain how this avatar fits your personality--the avatar does not necessarily have to look like you--it represents you.
• Reflect upon something that needs improvement for this school year.
• Design a presentation that includes a title page, the avatar picture, a description, explanation, and reflection.

1.  Watch this silly video about avatars at Teacher Tube. You will need sound, so turn on the speakers (low) and/or listen with headphones.

2.  Read the online article about avatars on wikipedia.com:

You do not need to click on any of the links--just read the article to understand what an avatar is and where it came from.

3.  Go to http://www.yahoo.com/ and create an account; if you have one already, you will need it for the following:

• Sign in and create an avatar:  https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.intl=us&.src=avt&.done=http%3A%2F%2Favatars.yahoo.com.
•  Follow the directions to change gender, hair, skin color, eye color, clothing, accessories, backgrounds, etc...
•  Save your work and you can "add to favorites" if you'd like, for later use
•  Minimize your work and move on.

4.  Go to http://www.google.com/ and click "more" on the drop down menu and click "Documents". 

• This will take you to Google Docs
• You will need to open a Google.com account--if you already have one, you will need it to complete and turn in your assignment.
• Click "New" and choose "Presentation"--follow the directions for the presentation, below------------------------>

5.  Create a presentation with the following:

• Title page with your name, teacher's name, course/period, date, and your title (ex: My Avatar)
• Picture of your Avatar with link where you created it---FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE SIDEBAR WHERE IT SAYS "EXPORT YOUR AVATAR"--YOU MAY HAVE TO SEND IT TO YOUR EMAIL, OR SAVE IT ON THE DESKTOP AND THEN COPY AND PASTE, IF YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO PLACE IT INTO THIS SLIDE!
• Description of Avatar in detail
• Explanation of how the Avatar fits YOU
• Conclusion with a reflection of what you have learned about yourself.  Include how you will improve one weakness that you currently have to make yourself a better person.

REMEMBER:

**You must have at least 5 slides

**You must use readable font (no light colors and no curly/script font)

**Your slides must be readable, legible, and "fit"

**You must use Standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and sentence structure

**Your presentation must be published so that I may grade it!

6.  When you are finished with your presentation and you have checked all of your work, do the following to turn in your work:

• Click "Save" and then click "Publish" and go to the webaddress given to see if your work is there and is viewable (click "start presentation" to start the presentation).  If you can view your presentation, check all of your work, and this means you did it correctly!

7.  Last 2 things to "turn in your work": : 

• send the link for your published presentation to my email: rachel.bush@springbranchisd.com
• copy and paste the link onto the Avatar Projects page within your period: Avatar Projects page

NOTE:  I will grade them online.  IF YOU PUBLISHED YOUR PRESENTATION, IT WILL BE VIEWABLE BY ANYONE, SO MAKE SURE YOU NAME IT:  YOUR NAME AND PERIOD!  If I can't find it or view it, you will receive a zero or late grade.  DON'T FORGET TO SIGN OUT OF YAHOO AND GOOGLE WHEN YOU ARE DONE!
